I’m a little sad because Girl Genius is sort of a side fandom

like go into the tag for any major fandom and you’ll find tons of art and cosplays and stuff but this is such a small fandom that people talked to me when I tagged my text posts and most of the stuff in there is either me or updates

We’re actually fairly active, usually, it’s just hit a low point like Mojo said. I do a lot of fanart and contribute to the kink meme (which you can find over on dreamwidth, I’m sure someone has the link); for a while the tag was almost nothing but my stuff until other people started joining in! Dom & Sub is a body of illustrative work in digital media that attempts to humanize practitioners of BDSM and offer a representation of kinky sex that not only refutes negative stereotypes but informs the audience that sadomasochistic play is done best between happy, healthy, and consenting adults. I portrayed the couple in the work not only engaging in S&M play but also building a “scene” together and nurturing one another after the play has concluded; these are moments often left unconsidered or completely ignored in visual representations of S&M. I believe it’s important to see how kinky scenes are crafted with care, commitment to safety and enthusiastic consent in order to limit those times when sadomasochistic play is used to abuse or dehumanize other human beings. It is my hope that my audience will learn from the illustrations that sadomasochistic play is not always dark or scary, and that fellow ‘kinksters’ can enjoy tender representations of S&M that do not ridicule or pathologize them. I’ve designed the work to engage sadomasochistic imagery, material and theory with an ethical conscience.

I’m assuming this is in response to not shipping Sasha and Milla romantically. There is nothing in that memory reel except for one ambiguous picture which shows them blushing at each other. That does not a relationship make. If anything, I assume in the actual game Milla at least has a crush on Sasha, and he may have feelings for her in return, but nothing has happened between them because they are SPY PARTNERS and getting too attached to your partner in that line of work is inviting disaster. I have no problems with people shipping them, I have problems with people who tout it as 100% overt canon when it clearly isn’t and they’re just as good platonic.
